How to Restore Your Seed Phrase Using Sead Tool

Restoring your seed phrase is a critical process, and Sead Tool ensures it’s both secure and straightforward. Follow this step-by-step guide to recover your seed phrase from QR codes quickly and safely.

This section will walk you through the steps to restore your seed phrase using the Sead Tool. Please follow each step carefully to ensure a successful restoration.


1. Step 1: Start the Restoration Process

  1. Open the Sead Tool application on your computer.
  2. From the home screen, click on the "Restore" option.

Before You Begin:

  • Disconnect from the Internet: For security reasons, make sure your computer is not connected to the internet during the restoration process.
  • Gather Your QR Codes:
    • Retrieve the QR codes you created during the backup procedure.
    • These QR codes may be stored in physical form (printed copies) or digital form (image files).
    • Note: You must have at least the minimum number of QR codes required for restoration, as defined during your backup.
  • Prepare Your Password (if applicable):
    • If you chose the encryption option during the backup, ensure you have your password ready.

2. Step 2: Enter Your QR Codes

You have three methods to input your QR codes:

2.1 Option 1: Upload QR Code Image Files

    • Click on "Upload Files".
    • Select individual QR code image files, multiple files at once, or a ZIP file containing the QR code images.
    • After selecting, click "Open" to upload the files to the Sead Tool.

2.2 Option 2: Scan QR Codes via Webcam

  • Click on "Webcam" to activate your computer's webcam for scanning.

  • Allow Webcam Access: A browser pop-up will request permission to use your webcam. Click "Allow" to grant access.
  • Scan QR Codes: Hold a QR code in front of the webcam until it is recognized.
    • Upon a successful scan, the webcam window will close automatically. To scan additional QR codes, click the "Webcam" button again.
    • The content of the QR code will be displayed on the screen, along with a message indicating how many more QR codes are required to restore your seed phrase.

Error Handling:

  • If the same QR code was previously entered, an error message will indicate that it has already been added.

  • If the QR code is invalid, an error message will inform you that it is not part of the original set.

Repeat scanning until you’ve entered the minimum number of QR codes required.

 

2.3 Option 3: Manually Enter QR Code Content

    • Click on "Text".
    • Carefully type the exact alphanumeric content from your QR code into the provided text field.
    • Click on "+Add" to add the QR code content.

Once you have entered at least the minimum number of required QR codes, you will receive a green confirmation message indicating you may proceed with the restoration.

The "Restore" button will now be active. Click on it to go to the final step.

3. Step 3: Enter Password (if applicable)

If you set a password during backup, you will be prompted to enter it now.

4. Step 4: View Your Restored Seed Phrase

The screen displays your restored seed phrase:

Your seed phrase will be displayed in two formats:

  • Phrase Format: A continuous string where words are separated by spaces.
  • Table Format: Each word is numbered in a table for clarity.

Click the "Finish" button at the bottom of the screen. You will be redirected back to the Sead Tool home screen.

Important:

  • Carefully use your seed phrase securely and do not share it with anyone.
  • Once used (e.g., to restore your hardware or software wallet), destroy and delete it. Keep your QR codes or create new ones if necessary.
